Grandpa Engleson

Only a few short minutes ago my Grandpa left this life.

I felt relief for I knew how much he was suffering.

So today I honor the loss of my Grandpa, a man of few words.

In fact he never said much to me until I graduated High School. That day he gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek and said "We are so proud of you."

I honestly nearly fell over...that was the most Grandpa had ever really said to me.

And now I am grateful for a man of few words but one who did say a few, enough for me to know I was loved.

I am grateful to have spent a few minutes with him last night. I sat at his bedside and held his hand, he drifted in and out as he was heavily sedated.

As I went to leave I woke him to say good bye and to tell him I loved him. He squeezed my hand so tight and held on.

Today my heart is full. I am grateful for that moment however fleeting it may seem now. In his last moments he expressed his love for me in the only way he could. And I am grateful.

Grandpa may you be at peace, and give Jenny my love. Tell her I miss her so. I hope you two will keep each other busy.

All my love,

Kara

What a nice tribute to your Grandpa. He will watch over you from the other side and be proud of all you are doing here.
